About Me
Hi! My name is Paula Metzger. I am a first grade
teacher in Circleville, Ohio. I've taught first grade
for the past fifteen years. I really enjoy seeing the
progress that beginning readers and writers make
September through May. I've also taught grades 3
and 6, and was an elementary music teacher before
that.
In an effort to get more music into the classroom,
I created a children's album for winter and spring.
Though there's a lot of good children's music on the
market, I wanted an album that had more than one song
on a given theme. My album, From Snowflakes to
Rainbows has 20 minutes of winter songs followed by
20 minutes of spring songs. This enables the teacher
to walk about the classroom and interact with the
students who may be working on a mural, individual
writing projects, etc., while thematic music is playing
in the background. I find that the children really
enjoy it. Music stimulates the imagination and helps
the learner make connections and remember.
It creates a happy background as the children work.
