Rainbow Riddles

           1. I am green.                      5. I am blue.

            I cover the ground.                   I am salty.

       You can walk on me.                 You can get fish from me.

       What am I?                         What am I?

        I am the grass!                             I am the ocean!

 

       2. I am yellow.                            6. I am red.

          I give you light.                        I am round.

         You can see me in the sky.                You can pick me from a tree.

           What am I?                              What am I?

          I am the sun!                               I am an apple!

 

        3. I am orange.                          7. I am all colors.

          I grow underground.                       I am  made of wax.

          You can feed me to a bunny.               You can draw and color with me.

           What am I?                              What am I?

            I am a carrot!                           I am a box of crayons

         4. I am purple.

            I am a fruit.

           You can pick me from a vine.

            What am I?

             I am a grape!

                                                                                

          Use these riddles just for fun, OR as a springboard for your

          students to write their own rainbow riddles.  Compile each student's

          riddle into a class book by having each student write and illustrate

          one riddle.  Mount the riddles and artwork on construction paper

          that matches the color of the riddle.  For extra detail, cover the

          illustration with a lift-up flap.   You can use post-it notes for a quick

          flap, or cut out your own flap, then glue down just the top side over

          the illustration.  When finished, it makes a colorful book in the order

          of the rainbow.
